Ministry Opportunities

Backpack Buddies

In an attempt to ensure that disadvantaged elementary school children do not go hungry over the weekend, we send them home each Friday with kid-friendly meals and snacks in “backpacks.” If you would like to be a part of this ministry at Weis Elementary, please contact Jennifer Daniel here.

Beth Davis WMU Group

The Beth Davis WMU Group is a mission action emphasis group open to ladies of all ages. Support is given to local, state, and international missions. A mission action project is selected each month as well as various mission topics and speakers are shared at the meetings. Examples of mission projects are: Samaritan Hands, Baptist Children’s Home, Martha’s Vineyard, Safe Harbor for Women & Children and donations to individual missionaries actively serving. Meetings are held at 10:30 am on the second Tuesday of the month from September thru May in members homes followed by lunch. For more more information, contact Shirley Callaway here.

CONNECT

Come be part of the fun and fellowship at this Women’s Ministry service day. Invite a relative, neighbor or co-worker to join you for this day of mission projects in the community as well as on the FBCP campus. Lunch will round out the day with a time of connection and sharing. Contact Teresa Howerton for information here.

DivorceCare

Find Help, Discover Hope, Experience Healing. In this group study, you’ll discover a friendly, caring group of people who will walk alongside you through one of life’s most difficult experiences. Don’t go through separation or divorce alone. Contact Lori Kizziah here to get connected at First Baptist, and check out other resources here.

Eighties Ladies

For more than 35 years this ministry has focused on the ladies of our church who are eight years old or older. The main event is a luncheon in their honor each spring. For more information, contact Mary Kaye Bell here.

First Ladies Cancer Support Group

Our group includes ladies newly diagnosed and those who are survivors for many years. Our support group has become a network to reach out, share experiences and support each other. Best of all it has led to many new friendships and prayer partners. For more information, contact Emily Green here.

Grandmothers in Prayer

The focus of GIP is to pray individually for our grandchildren. We meet weekly, focusing on an attribute of God and read corresponding scripture and follow the prayer guideline of ACTS. We pray scripture over our grandchildren, addressing the current need in their lives at the time, keeping all information confidential. For more information contact Marcia Howell here.

Jail Ministry

The Women's Jail Ministry helps disciple women on a work release program with a weekly Bible study. Throughout the month we lead chapel services at the Escambia County women’s jail. For more information contact Mary Baker here.

LEAFF (Loving and Empowering Adoptive & Foster Families)

LEAFF is a ministry that serves our local adoptive and foster families. Through this ministry we provide families with necessities like beds, bedding, diapers, clothes and other essential items. We also bring dinners, send encouraging notes, and provide support in other various ways. For example, GAP provides feminine hygiene products for girls, Ignite is a tutoring program for students, and Birthday Buddies provides Birthday surprises for children in foster care. LEAFF also partners with Feed Fosters and Breakfast with Santa through First City Church. For more information and to connect with our foster care ministry, contact Amy Floyd here.

Love on Wheels

Many of our senior ladies have appointments with their doctors, dentists or other commitments and need someone to drive them. That’s where love is expressed and wheels put to it. Our volunteers provide transportation to those unable to drive themselves. For more information contact Lista Bodree here.

MerriWidows

Our MerriWidows group meets once a month for lunch and conversation. If you are interested in joining us next time, contact Darlene Ginnetti here.

Moms in Prayer

Groups of two or more moms (or grandmothers) meet for one hour a week to pray for their children and school. Moms experience how to replace anxiety and fear with peace and joy by praying specifically and scripturally for their kids. For more information contact Susan Hill here.

Pensacola Tour of Tables

A special event for the women of our community held every two years. For more information or to volunteer contact Lori Kizziah here.

Personal Touch

Personal Touch ministers to FBC families by sharing their gift of cooking/baking as they provide a meal to each family during their time of bereavement.  If you enjoy cooking/baking, have questions or are interested in serving in this mission, please contact Kay Sasse here.

Sewing for Jesus

Sewing for Jesus meets on the second and fourth Mondays of the month from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in Rooms S207/S209. Please join us for fun and fellowship as we create items for our church missions. No sewing experience necessary, only a willing heart to help improve the lives of young girls throughout the world. If you have a sewing machine or serger, please feel free to bring it as we don't have enough sewing machines for everyone. We are always grateful to receive donations of working sewing machines or sergers, sewing material and notions, and monetary donations to purchase material. You are not required to stay the entire time but we do break for lunch and have a devotional at noon. If you have any questions, please contact LynneMarie Prock here.

Tapestry

An event for the women of FBCP that highlights the way God weaves our lives together with each other and with Him. A fun time to fellowship together and hear what God has done in the lives of others. To volunteer or for more information contact Lori Kizziah here.

Women’s Conference

A great way to meet other women in our church and go deeper in your relationship with God. This conference for women takes place every two years. To volunteer in leadership of this event, please contact Lori Kizziah here.
